“Everyone’s Gone To The Moon !”

Dating back to 1602, The Moon Inn has been a popular watering hole for weary travellers and thirsty locals alike for centuries. Today the Moon enjoys an excellent reputation for its’ Olde World charm, excellent food & ales and warm welcome to all visitors. The pub is situated in the village of Mordiford, some 4 miles south-east of the Cathedral City of Hereford, alongside the rivers Wye and Lugg, and is in the heart of the beautiful Wye Valley (designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

We have 2 cosy bars, a separate dining area and a lovely Beer garden with BBQ’s in the summer. Choose from our great selection of ales and lagers, local Herefordshire cider and an extensive wine list, or settle down to a specialty coffee or tea mopped up with one of our delicious home cooked cakes or pastries!

The Moon Inn

Mordiford itself attracts many visitors, especially in the summer months, who enjoy the beautiful walks in nearby Haugh Wood or, for those more active among you, an exhilarating canoe ride along the River Wye.

This river, along with the adjacent River Lugg, also boasts fabulous fishing along their beautiful and peaceful banks. We have a small camping field next to the pub for touring caravans and campers, so why not pitch up for a weekend and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a deserved break?

Beware of the Dragon! Legend has it that Mordiford was once terrorised by a dragon that lived in Haugh Wood and came down to drink from the waters of the River Lugg. Ancient tales tell of the Mordiford Dragon taking sheep and cattle and even developing a taste for the locals!

Dragon of Mordiford....

Whatever your reason for passing by, be sure to call at the The Moon Inn for a hearty Pub lunch, an evening meal in our  a La Carte Restaurant or just pop in for a drink  (or a cuppa!) to unwind …. You’ll be more than welcome at The Moon!
